The Good News Mountaineer Garage
Donate Your Car To Help A Neighbor! If you're thinking about trading your car for a new one, consider donating it to the non-profit Good News Mountaineer Garage.
In
most parts of West Virginia, a person without a vehicle can't keep a
job. Lack of transportation also limits access to safe and affordable
housing, medical care, educational opportunities and even groceries.
Since the Good News Mountaineer Garage opened its doors in 2001, we have provided safe reliable transportation to hundreds of West Virginia families. Each of those cars has changed someone's life.
You can recycle your used car to help families with low incomes get on the road to work - a triple win for us all:
- You win, knowing you are truly making a difference for a family in need, and your donation may qualify as a tax-deductible charitable contribution or West Virginia state tax credit.
- Our community wins because we are sowing the seeds of economic justice that will bring more people into our economy and make West Virginia a better place to live.
- The recipients win because they are able to afford and own a vehicle that's going to dramatically change their lives.
| NEW TAX LAW! You may have heard that tax deductions for cars
donated to charities are no longer allowed. Not true! The new tax law allows donors to STILL DEDUCT THE FAIR MARKET VALUE when the vehicle is passed on directly to a low income family. |

got a better job and increased my hours at work. Now that I have a car,
I can get to work, do more for myself and my children, take them on
family outings."
